Moodle is the Trust’s virtual learning
environment or VLE. It is one of the online platforms with which you will
engage during your time studying with us. Others include MyTap, the student record
system, as well as various Library platforms such as the reading lists and
Box of Broadcasts. MyTAP holds your information as a registered student. It
uses a unique username and password that you create when you first apply to study
at the Trust. In MyTap, you will find information about your fee payments, your
grades and so on. Moodle and the Library platforms relate
your learning experience. They both use Shibboleth as an authentication platform.
Your Shibboleth account is created using data drawn from MyTap. Authentication
means that when you log into Moodle, the platform checks with Shibboleth to see
if you have a valid account. If you do, Shibboleth authorizes your entry into
Moodle. So remember the login details you use for MyTAP will be different to
those you use for Moodle and the Library resources. At the start of the new
academic year, you will receive two automated emails. The first comes from
Shibboleth and contains your username (usually an abbreviation of your name) and
a link to your password. The second comes from MyTAP and contains your enrollment
key and instructions for logging into Moodle using the Shibboleth details you
previously set up. Please follow these instructions precisely. You can find
links to Moodle and MyTAP at the bottom of every web page on the Tavistock
& Portman website.
