SHIFT for the Planet takes place on Day 1 of the SHIFT Summit.
Tickets to the SHIFT Summit may be purchased here.
Designed in partnership with 1% for the Planet, Silicon Couloir, George B. Storer Foundation and The Blue Sky Funders Forum, SHIFT for the Planet spotlights the most innovative, impactful and replicable examples of outdoor recreation and conservation work in the country in an event designed to amplify and enhance the shared impact of funders.
For funders who seek to protect our public lands by supporting the country’s best conservation work, SHIFT for the Planet offers a unique opportunity to knowledge of and relationships with organizations at the front lines of the outdoor recreation/conservation partnership, and to gather privately to discuss strategies to increase the impact of their work.
How It Will Work: Each year, SHIFT’s researchers identify individuals, organizations and initiatives from around the United States that leverage outdoor recreation and education for conservation gains and evaluate the work on the basis of Impact, Innovation and Replicability. (Criteria details may be found here.) The best examples of these are honored as SHIFT Award Official Selections.
On November 1, as part of the kick-off to The 2017 SHIFT Festival, select finalists from each Award category who are also 1% for the Planet partners will be invited to present their work to an audience that includes 1% for the Planet business members, private and corporate funders, individual donors, and peers. The five-minute presentations will feature the work’s focus, its impact, and a central challenge facing its ongoing success.
SHIFT for the Planet will be followed by two more days of The SHIFT Summit, which is designed to facilitate networking between businesses, organizations and individuals working to protect our public lands. There, funders and nonprofits will have the opportunity to continue their interactions as we explore 2017’s focus: the relationship between outdoor recreation, public lands and the American economy.
